Jewish Family Services of Greater Orlando (JFS Orlando) is a nonprofit social services organization serving Central Florida communities. Headquartered right here in our home city of Winter Park, FL, its dedicated staff provides a variety of social and emergency assistance to low-income local residents.
We believe the services offered from the caring team at JFS Orlando would be of value—and of interest—to some of our tenants, as well as many others in our region. So, here’s a quick overview of the main programs and assistance offered by the organization.
JFS Orlando’s Family Stabilization Program
The Family Stabilization Program is a free 6-month case management program for individuals and families living in Orange and Seminole Counties struggling with financial instability and/or at risk of becoming homeless. Participants take part in a tailored program to improve self-sufficiency. They may receive financial assistance for basic needs, personalized financial counseling, money management instruction, skills and employability training, mental health counseling, and other help.
This signature program of Jewish Family Services of Greater Orlando has helped many Central Florida people and families turn dire situations around. Just in the program year completed at the end of September 2015, the Family Stabilization Program successfully served 109 people in 33 local families; 58 of them were children, and almost half were households headed by single mothers.
