Mr. Goodwin entered the affordable housing field soon after graduation from the Valparaiso University School of Law. His career has included serving as Deputy Director and Director of the City of Gary, Indiana's Mayor's Office of Housing Conservation for eight years and then Deputy Director/Director of Operations of the Housing Authority of the City of Gary, Indiana, as well as the Orlando, Florida Housing Authority over a period of eight years. During that time, Mr. Goodwin attained certifications in all of the required senior management professional certifications required to administer public housing programs. These included the Public Housing Management certification, the Financial Management for Public Housing certification, as well as certifications in Public Housing Modernization and Family Self-Sufficiency training. Soon after leaving the Orlando Housing Authority, Mr. Goodwin served one year as Director of Special Projects for Workforce Central Florida, the agency responsible for overseeing the State of Florida's workforce development programs in Central Florida. He is certified as a Florida Workforce Professional. Mr. Goodwin then served three years as Vice President and Executive Director of the Housing and Neighborhood Development Services agency, a non-profit affordable housing development agency. As a result of this extensive experience in the affordable housing industry, Mr. Goodwin has offered his services as a consultant in the affordable housing field for much of the last fifteen years. He has also continued his work in the workforce development field in project management and has worked in the private sector as a manager of government relations and supplier diversity for one of Central Florida's largest corporations.

Mr. Goodwin has proudly served as a Commissioner of the Winter Park Housing Authority since November of 2005.
